CBSE has removed chapters like democratic rights and secularism from the syllabus. CBSE has reduced the syllabus of academic year 9 to 12, in which these chapters have been removed. This decision has been taken by CBSE for the purpose of giving relief to students amid the corona virus epidemic.

According to the documents uploaded on the board’s website, CBSE has removed chapters like citizenship, nationalism, secularism, division and democratic rights from different subjects.

The five chapters removed from social science in Class 9 also have democratic rights. The board says that it has been completely deleted.

In addition, chapters such as Democracy and Diversity, Gender, Religion and Caste, Conflict and Movement, and Forest and Wildlife have been removed from the Social Science Subject of class 10.

In the 11th grade, sections on peasants, zamindars and states, partition, division and rebellion in the country- ‘The Bombay Deccan’ and ‘The Deccan Writ’s Commission’, based on the peasants’ movement against the moneylenders, have been removed.

Chapters like Federalism under the Indian Constitution at work, the need for local governments and the growth of local government in India, have also been removed from the subject of 11th grade political science

Topics such as citizenship, nationalism and secularism have also been removed from this subject.

HRD Ministry asked CBSE to reduce syllabus

On July 7, in the midst of the corona virus epidemic, the Ministry of Human Resource Development had asked CBSE to reduce the syllabus of class 9th to 12th, to provide relief to students.

HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank wrote in a tweet, “Keeping in mind the need for learning achievement, it has been decided to reduce syllabus by 30 percent.” He said that the core concepts have been kept in this syllabus.

Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that CBSE was advised to revise the curriculum and reduce the burden on the students, given the extraordinary circumstances. The HRD minister said that he had sought suggestions from academics for this and received more than 1500 replies.
