The Bharat Bandh called by farmers on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s native place Vadnagar downed shutters in support. In Gujarat, apart from Patan, Amreli, and Junagadh and a few towns and villages, the impact of the Bharat Bandh was negligible or limited.

In Vadnagar, Modi’s hometown traders voluntarily closed shops in support of farmers. In some places, Congress workers had tried to forcefully shut shops that had remained open but the police intervened.

Morbi, Sanand, Dahegam also saw a substantial impact of the Bharat Bandh. Traders chose to support farmers in these areas. Saurashtra also saw some support for the Bharat Bandh.

Earlier within the day three highways were blocked by protesters in Gujarat on Tuesday as a part of the Bharat Bandh. The protesters who were Congress party workers placed burning tires on the agricultural highways to prevent the movement of traffic.

Farmers protesting the Centre’s new farm laws have had several round of talks with the govt but it’s yielded no breakthrough on the difficulty .

Farmers are demanding a repeal of the three farm laws. the govt , during the meeting, told farmers that it needs longer for internal discussion and can come with a proposal on December 9.

Union home minister Amit Shah has invited the protesting farmers for talks on Tuesday evening. The meeting invite comes each day before another round of talks are scheduled between the Centre and therefore the farmers’ representative.
